In 2015, Bradford was named the greenest university in the UK and 8th in the World. This followed a number of green initiatives implemented by the university, along with an effort to decrease its carbon footprint by 35% since the previous decade. It is also classified as a Fairtrade University.

The university has been climbing the ranks in the Complete University Guide, having risen 30 places in three years - from 83rd in 2015 to 53rd in 2017. It is in the top 10 in the UK for five subjects: physiotherapy, forensic science, ophthalmics, occupational therapy and medical technology.

Vice Chancellor of the university is Brian Cantor, who took up the position in 2013. Prior to that, he was Vice Chancellor of the University of York.
